Nach
einem kräftigen Frühstück (Shayb war bereits 4 Stunden und 300 km unterwegs von
Luxor) von My Dream in einem Café mit kurzem Austausch ging es los: 330 km und
5 Stunden ohne Pausen nur mit Halts wegen Sicherheitskontrollen... dann
genossen wir sogar eine Polizeieskorte mit 3 Autos… weil sie nichts zu tun
haben??
After a hearty breakfast (Shayb was already 4 hours and 300 km on the way from Luxor) from My Dream in a café with a short exchange, we started: 330 km and 5 hours without breaks only stops for security checks... and we even enjoyed a police escort by 3 cars... because they have nothing to do??

Um 14 Uhr
erreichten wir Abydos und ich besuchte zuerst den Osiris Tempel errichtet von Sethos
I in der 19. Dynastie. Osiris ist der Totenrichter der Unterwelt im Alten Reich
und hier war die Demokratisierung des Totenkultes und erste Begräbnisstätte
ägyptischer Pharaonen: Jede Mumie macht eine rituelle Fahrt nach Abydos. Zudem findet
man eine fast komplette Liste aller Könige in die Wand gemeisselt…
At 2 pm we reached Abydos and I first visited the Osiris Temple built by Sethos I in the 19th Dynasty. Osiris is the judge of the dead of the underworld in the Old Kingdom and this is where the democratization of the cult of the dead and the first burial site of Egyptian pharaohs are to find: Each mummy makes a ritual journey to Abydos. Nach einer
kurzen Besichtigung des Tempels von Ramses II, dem Sohn von Sethos I, checkte
ich im danebengelegenen Hotel House of Life (https://www.houseoflife.info) ein und genoss die milde Abendsonne, einen wunderschönen
Sonnenuntergang und ein Abendessen vom Buffet im Hotel bis ich todmüde in meine
Federn fiel.
After a short tour of the temple of Ramses II, the son of Sethos I, I checked into the adjacent Hotel House of Life (https://www.houseoflife.info) and enjoyed the mild evening sun, a beautiful sunset and a buffet dinner in the hotel until I fell dead tired into my feathers.

Früh
morgens nehme ich gewöhnlich nur ein kleines Frühstück zu mir, so jetzt. Um 9
Uhr wurde ich von Shayb abgeholt und wir fuhren nach Tell Amarna – in Echnatons
Reich… Wir benötigten 2 Stunden für 60 km - alles mit Polizeieskorte, die alle
10 km wechselte und wir natürlich warten mussten. Um 14 Uhr erreichten wir Tell
Amarna, wo Echnaton seine Verehrung für Re/Ra = Aton = Sonne verewigte.
I usually only eat a small breakfast early in the morning, so now. At 9 am I was picked up by Shayb and we drove to Tell Amarna - to Akhenaten's kingdom... It took us 2 hours for 60 km - all with police escort, which changed every 10 km and of course we had to wait. At 2 pm we reached Tell Amarna, where Akhenaten immortalized his worship of Re/Ra = Aten = sun.

Danach, etwas
mehr als eine Stunde Fahrt Richtung Norden, erreichten wir um 17 Uhr El Minya.
Auf der Queen Isis (Tel. +20 101 662 4264) beim freundlichen Soleiman und Personal fanden wir die
ideale Unterkunft auf dem Nil um zu entspannen… nochmals liess ich bewusst alle
Traumas leise und langsam mit dem Nil fliessen…
After that, a little over an hour's drive north, we reached El Minya at 5 pm. On Queen Isis (tel. +20 101 662 4264) with friendly Soleiman and staff we found the ideal accommodation on the Nile to relax... once again I consciously let all traumas flow quietly and slowly with the Nile...

Am letzten
Tag, Freitag, den 4. Februar, hatten wir 500 km vor uns liegen um El
Fayrouz-Hurghada zu erreichen… und Shayb 300 km mehr nach Luxor… Bevor es aber
zurück nach Hause ging, stand noch eine kurze Visite in Beni Hassan auf dem
Programm: Der Archeologe Mohamed führte mich durch die 39 4000 Jahre alten
Gräber, die einmal nicht für Pharaonen, sondern für Staatsangestellte errichtet
wurden.
On the last day, Friday February 4th, we had 500 km to reach El Fayrouz-Hurghada... and Shayb 300 km more to Luxor... But before we went back home, there was a short visit to Beni Hassan on the programme: The archaeologist Mohamed led me through the 39 4000-year-old tombs, which were for once not built for pharaohs but for state employees.

Nach diesem
letzten historischen Stopp fuhren wir die 25 km wieder zurück nach El Minya. Dann
eine 100 km Umfahrt, weil die Zufahrt zur Autobahn Sheikh Fadl geschlossen war,
und wir erreichten sie und zwar Dank der Polizei, die uns noch immer auf
Schritt und Tritt verfolgte… Nun ging es 230 km bei 11 Grad durch die Wüste -
endlich frei, ohne Polizei!
After this last historic stop, we drove 25 km back to El Minya. Then a 100 km detour, because the access to the Sheikh Fadl highway was closed, and we reached it thanks to the police, who were still following us everywhere... Now it was 230 km at 11 degrees through the desert - finally free, without police!

Um 17 Uhr
lud mich Shayb sicher und um viele Erlebnisse reicher zuhause im Turtles Beach
Resort (https://turtlesbeach.com) ab. Was für eine Reise! : ) - Dominiert nicht nur von der Sonne, sondern
auch von der Polizei… Die Polizisten waren freundlich und um das Heil der
Touristen besorgt, aber ich wurde auch mehrmals um Bakshish (= Trinkgeld) gebeten!
Einem Polizisten habe ich ein paar Scheine zugesteckt, als er aber ohne Danke wegwollte,
hab ihm es wieder aus der Hand genommen! Ein anderer Polizist lernte mich wütend
kennen… als er um Bakshish fragte, hab ich ihm geantwortet, dass er doch vom Staat
angestellt ist und einen Lohn erhalte!? Und von mir würde er sicher keinen Cent
erhalten! Als er dann beim Aussteigen aus unserem Auto noch meinen Plastiksack
mit Abfall auf den Boden warf, erhielt er sogar sanfte Schläge und ein gaaanz
grimmiges Gesicht! - Die Polizei ist aber nicht immer nur lästig, manchmal
sogar hilfreich, denn man braucht kein GPS hier - sie führte uns immer direkt
hin!

At 5 pm Shayb safely dropped me off at Turtles Beach Resort (https://turtlesbeach.com) , enriched by
many experiences. What a trip! : ) - Dominated not only by the sun, but also by
the police… The police officers were friendly and concerned about the safety of
tourists, but I was also asked for bakshish (= tips) several times! I gave a
few bills to a policeman, but when he wanted to leave without saying thank you,
I took it back from him! Another cop got to know me angry... when he asked
about bakshish, I replied that he was employed and paid a salary by the state!?
And he would certainly not get a cent from me! When he then threw my plastic
bag with rubbish on the floor getting out of our car, he even received gentle
slaps and a veeery grim face! - But the police are not always just annoying,
sometimes even helpful, because you don't need a GPS here - they always led us
directly where we needed to go!
